quand je suis viendu te voir. D'ailleur, je l'ai pas écouté depuis lol, en ce
moment j'écoute que NightWish, avec mon T-shirt NightWish, et ma poupée

Ok IOEN, il y a des passages qui font penser Master of Puppets et à Justice For All surtout au niveau des solos.
Mais en ce qui concerne certaines rythmiques bien 'heavy', je retrouve du St Anger. Les effets et la production sont très importantes dans les deux albums.

tout les morceaux " occidentaux" ont en commun le fait d etre monet a 95 pourcents sur la gamme majure ( et en plus de ca , celle de do a 50 pourcents au moins)

Hors voila le truc: techniquement on peut joue la gamme majeure ( de do pour l exemple) a partir de n importe quel endroit , comme le La par exemple.

ceci dit ca sonne qd meme tres gai , meme pour un accord mineur comme celui ci. ( c est pas tout a fait ca , mais je schematise)

Alors la methode est de passer le sol en sol diese ( ou la bemol pour les puristes) ce qui nous fait passer a ce qu on appele "la gamme mineure harmonique. "

pour re schematiser ( a noter que je vais tourner en rond dans cet explicatif afin de bien ancrer certaines choses) voici ce qui change

la gamme majeure comporte ces intervalles:

1 ton 1 ton 1/2 ton 1 ton 1 ton 1 ton 1/2 ton

et la gamme mineure harmonique ces intervalles la:

1 ton 1/2 ton 1 ton 1 ton 1/2 ton 3/2 ton 1/2 ton

grossierement si on els transpose on a qu une seule difference qui est celle expliquee avant , transformer le sol en sol diese , soi decaler une note d un demi ton.

Ca a l air de rien , mais voila ca fait tout , c est tout simplement pour ca que home pue l oriental a 100 km a la ronde ( jeu de mot temporel inside)

Pour ceux qui ont un instrument sous la main et qui ne connaissent pas , jouez la gamme majeure de do a partir du la
(la si do re mi fa sol la) puis redescendez

puis ensuite la gamme mineure harmonique:
(la si do re mi fa sol# la) et redescendez.

Qd vous aurez ca dans l oreille vous vous direz: putain c est qd emem dingue ce qu on peut ressentir rien qu en changeant une note

(a noter que tout jouer en gamme mineure est un exercice technique plutot difficile, car on n est pas habitue au style , et en plus , tout les accords deviennent completement dingue , du coup )

Et je dois dire que IOEN a bien résumé ma pensée dans son petit résumé de l'album, je suis complètement d'accord avec lui.

Exemple : As i am fait un peu trop Metallica à bon goût et je n'ai pas du tout reconnu Dream Theater ...

Par contre, je dois reconnaître que le couple Vacant / Stream of Consciousness m'a beaucoup emballé.

Mention spéciale à In The Name of God pour son final. Rahhhh ces cloches.

J'y met ma touche concernant Train Of Thought. J'aime bien cet album même si je n'ai pas assez de recul pour dire s'il s'écarte beaucoup du 'style' du groupe. Le premier album de Dream Theater que j'avais écouté était Awake mais il y a bien longtemps et à l'époque je n'avais pas trop accroché.

Je viens de m'acheter Metropolis Part 2 et là je peux dire que j'ai été soufflé par la qualité de l'album : les rythmiques, les ponts, les solos, le chant, rien à redire... En plus le fait que cela soit un album concept le place très haut dans la hiérarchie des albums de rock progressif et de rock tout court.

Angra moi je ferai bien qd je les connaitrais assez pour l instant je ne connais pas tout juste Holy land Angel cry et Hunters and pray ( ce qui fait qd meme 60%) et j adore Carolina IV avec son petit tapping bass que je joue depuis 6 mois et que je maitrise toujours pas !

Serieusement, et comme pas mal le savent deja , j ai le malheur de me logger ici a partir d un reseau d'une boite italienne qui a eu l'intelligence de trouver trois types de clavier qwerty differents, dont l'italien l'americain et le spécial station Aix. La t as du cul je suis sur un où il y a accents ET apostrophes , ce qui n est pas toujoures le cas ( meme si ce sont tout les deux des compaqs.
Ce qui fait que:
1. j ai perdu l habitude des accents et des apostrophes.
2. J ai perdu la notion de l'azerty et il me faut des heures pour m y retrouver a chaque fois que je tape chez moi.
3. Je suis dyslexique et j ai inventé la maldie que l'on nomme maintenant la galle du clavier, qui consiste a inverser des lettres uniquement quand on les tape et "aps" quand on les ecrit ni les lis.

Me suis je assez justifie ou je dois le mettre en signature comme unhuntrer je crois ? ( non je suis pas excedé. Rah mais putain rikausse ce jour etait parfais pour moi pour l instant , tu fais chier ( remarque j ai qd meme attendu le train 50 minutes ce matin... y a pas que toi)

Je fais un up du sujet pour signaler, que tout comme ioen, je place Train of Thought derrière SFAM. J'adore TT mais je n'ai pas réussi à retrouver la régularité au niveau musical de SFAM. Néanmoins il faut reconnaître que J'ADORE (et le mot est faible) Endless Sacrifice, Vacant, Stream of Cousciousness, In The name of God. Je regrette juste que les autres pistes (sous entendu : de l'album) ne soient pas aussi accrocheuses que celles-ci, ce qui explique pourquoi je l'apprécie un peu moins que SFAM ....

c est tres subjectif ce que tu dis la chon , car le concept est completement different.
Il est clair que pour moi aussi la construction de SFAM est bien au dessus de Train of thought, cependant j ai pas l impression d ecouter le meme groupe exactement. Mais rah dans Train of tought y a vraiment des riffs qui tuent.

Oui je sais bien que c'est un avis très subjectif.

Disons que comme toi, je n'ai pas l'impression d'entendre le même groupe. Franchement quand j'ai entendu As I am la prèmière fois (et même tout le temps en fait), j'ai vraiment l'impression d'entendre du Metallica (en soit ce n'est pas un défaut mais bon).

Et je suis conscient que le concept est différent. Simplement, musicalement je préfère SFAM car j'ai bien l'impression d'écouter du DT de la première à la dernière piste. Ce qui n'est pas le cas, de TT.

Maintenant, In The Name of God m'a profondément marqué, certains riff dans cette musique sont ... impressionnants.

TT serait passé devant SFAM, si je n'avais pas cette impression désagréable, de ne pas entendre un autre groupe que DT. Je trouve que c'est perdre son "son", son identité musicale. Un peu comme si tu supprimais la voix de Tarja dans Nightwish. Or moi j'aime ça, la différence.

Mais encore une fois c'est un avis très personnel.

Je pense que chon voit les deux albums comme quelqu'un qui écoute Metallica sur ... And Justice For All et Garage Inc.. Cela reste le même groupe que l'on peut reconnaitre très facilement mais les concepts et les approches sont totalement différentes.
